Microwave Radiometer Antenna Installation
A requirement to install a Microwave Radiometer Antenna on an aircraft has resulted in this installation on a Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain. This research program was conducted by the Institute of Space & Terrestrial Studies (ISTS), now known as CRESTECH, with help from the Ontario Centre for Remote Sensing, who provided the PA-31-350 aircraft. This particular aircraft is specially configured for survey & remote sensing use, with two large camera bays in the fuselage. These existing provisions made the task of installing the Radiometer Antenna under the rear fuselage a much less onerous one.
